Eatfolio ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Eatfolio mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Display name and username
- Email address
- City (optional)
- Profile photo or avatar emoji
- Food preferences (cuisines, vibes, dining style)
Content You Create
- Dish reviews (including ratings, restaurant names, tags, and notes)
- Photos of food you upload
- Saved lists and collections
- Comments on other users' posts
Location Data
With your permission, we access your location only while using the app to show your position on the food map and associate locations with dish reviews. We do not track your location in the background.
Camera and Photo Library
With your permission, we access your camera to scan food cards and your photo library to let you select food photos for reviews and your profile.
Analytics Data
We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics, including:
- Device identifier (not linked to your identity)
- App usage events (screens visited, features used)
- App version and device type
This data helps us understand how people use Eatfolio so we can improve the experience. We do not use this data for advertising or cross-app tracking.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the Eatfolio service
- To personalize your experience (taste profile, food recommendations)
- To enable social features (following, likes, comments, friend requests)
- To display dish locations on the map
- To generate your AI-powered taste profile and food title
- To improve the app through anonymous analytics
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
Your public profile, dish reviews, and public saved lists are visible to other Eatfolio users. We share data with the following service providers who help us operate the app:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage
- PostHog — anonymous usage analytics
- Apple — Sign in with Apple authentication
When you choose to share content to Instagram Stories, the shared image is sent to Instagram via their sharing API.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely on Supabase servers with row-level security policies. Photos are stored in secure cloud storage buckets scoped to your user account. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit.
5. Your Rights and Choices
- You can edit or delete your profile information at any time in the app
- You can delete individual dish reviews
- You can revoke camera and location permissions in your device Settings
- You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us
6. Children's Privacy
Eatfolio is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by updating the effective date above.
